BYOD in Room 5 at Auroa School

This is our first year with BYOD at Auroa School. Last year we had 1:2 devices and now with 1:1 our programme has advanced for our learners and is used as an amazing tool. Students can bring their own device to support their learning, building a powerful BYOD classroom.

Increasing the use of computers is making learning with, and about, digital devices essential. It is preparing my students to participate in society and the future workforce.
Digital devices have the potential to expand and enhance interaction in the classroom, enable more real-world activities, improve learning environments, and engage students in new and exciting ways. Opportunities for collaboration and problem-solving are expanded beyond the classroom in an online environment. It is really exciting for students, encouraging more on-task behaviour, and exciting for me as a teacher.
A learner-centred curriculum that includes 1:1 digital devices supports greater flexibility in learning pathways, empowering students to learn in a more personalised way with increased control over their own learning. This can help students engage more deeply in their learning and lift their achievement.

Here is a short documentary put together by Jason Bloor about our journey at Auroa School. Enjoy!

Have a great week in paradise!

Module 2 e-Textiles

Another wonderful eTextiles DPE module has completed. The students have worked extremely well to plan, draft, research, design, prototype, modify and produce a Gadget Bag to contain all their technology. With all the devices we seem to have, it is important to take care of them and the Gadget Bag is an ideal way as it is padded and contains everything. The added bonus is that we get to add LED lights to modify and enhance our Gadget Bags!

Well done team!
